How to get there The climb from the south starting in Ebene Reichenau (1057m) or a bit further up at Unter-Winkl (1104m), is quite steep with up to 23%! One ramp is about 400m and is constantly over 20% and then there is a shorter ramp at 20%, but otherwise the climb has “normal” steepness. (Before the end of the 1970s it was up to 34% and thus one of the steepest roads in the Alps.) From the north the climb starts in Predlitz (930m) and is longer but not so steep (it is a bit steep near the end after Turrach (1269m)).
Other comments Turracher Höhe is a little ski resort and has restaurants, hotels and shops. There is more traffic here than one would have thought. Porsche and Audi have tested their cars here back in the days when the road was one of the most challenging in the Alps (even for car drivers). Photo taken from a small asphalt road going off to the left on the north side of the pass.
