How to get there From the south one starts just east of Schöder (880m). The last 4 km of this climb averages over 11%, which makes it a quite steep and hard climb. The south climb is steep at first and then has a long more flat section, before the last 5-6 km of narrow serpentines to the pass height. The ascent from the north starts in Stein an der Enns (668m) and is almost as steep the last 4 km (around 10%, according to profiles at salite.ch), but this side is easier.
Other comments This is the highest asphalted pass road this far east in the Alps and there are not many white mountains in sight in the Summer around here. It is a nice, quiet and remote pass. It is not easy to guess where the pass is when approaching from the south. There is a café in Schöder.
